DID U KNOW…Just after his term as the nation’s first president, George Washington built a whiskey distillery on his Mount Vernon plantation. After its completion in 1797, it soon became the largest distillery in the U.S. where it produced  more than 11,000 gallons of  liquor  producing a profit of $7500.Washington was an ultra-successful liquor distributor in the new country. He made rye whiskey, apple brandy and peach brandy in his Mount Vernon distillery.
